I had a tight schedule to declutter and organise my parents' dilapidated holiday home, which felt extremely daunting. Kim was brilliant at helping me prioritize jobs so that each phase was broken down into manageable parts. This started from establishing which area of the house to tackle first and helping me identifying things to keep, in a considered but practical way, sorting meticulously and systematically so I was clear where things had gone. She enabled me to make decisions about items of emotional value, calmly attuning to my need to reminisce, while not allowing us to be too diverted from the job in its entirety.
I am not a completer/finisher and so having Kim’s practical approach to clearing an area and organising the tip trips felt reassuring and I was astonished we were able to achieve so much in a short period of time. Kim has excellent attention to detail, and calm supportive demeanour, which turned a potential ordeal into a manageable and satisfying experience.

minimising before moving
When you move house or downsize (for whatever reason) it can be tricky to know where to begin. The irresistible temptation is to take everything with you (believe me, this is not the best solution!). It's easy to lose track of what we own and often have duplicates without even realising.
Cut back and organise before you move, taking only what you really need and love. It's a great opportunity to downsize for a fresh start and will save you money. Why pay to move and store things that you don't need to keep? Know what you own. Recycle, upcycle or donate.
Let me help:
-
assess and minimise your stuff before you begin to pack your boxes.
-
reduce your stress by packing and unpacking with you.
-
oversee the move.

helping parents downsize
Parents, aunts, great uncles, friends... Downsizing, whatever age, can cause stress and can be quite traumatic for older people, particularly if they have lived in the same house for many years and have accumulated a large number of possessions.
Struggling to manage tasks unaided, feeling a bit disorganised or simply wanting to live in a smaller space - these can be just a few of the reasons for downsizing. Organising such a big life change can be challenging, particularly if the person is on their own, or has no family close by to help.
I can work with them to achieve a smooth and happy transition.
Let me help by:
-
carefully listening and responding to their individual needs, at a pace that suits them.
-
sensitively guiding the selection of treasures they wish to keep and the items that they are happy to let go of.
-
steering them through the process of downsizing, so they are ready for their new lifestyle.
-
packing and unpacking for them.
-
settling them into their new surroundings more quickly, and finding ideal homes for their possessions.
